The first hardcover edition of Marg published simultaneously with the magazine was Persian Painters, Vol.30 Nos. 1 and 2 in 1976/77.

Since then the magazine and book have diverged to become distinct publications.

Marg publishes a book every quarter which forms part of a loose series. These titles are usually edited by an acknowledged scholar in the field and only occasionally authored/co-authored; they generally consist of 8-10 well illustrated articles. These titles are available as single copies and also on subscription at rates which work out to less than half the printed price.

Marg’s special publications are those books that are published outside the quarterly series and have varying formats. They are either edited or by a single author/co-authored.
